A pair of sculptural busts carved from dark, aged hardwood beams. The wood is sourced from ancient homes, retaining evidence of its original function as architectural support. Each piece presents a simplified, elongated human face characterized by strong geometric features: deepset eyes, a prominent nose, and subtle lips. The surfaces show a rich, weathered patina, and the pieces feature visible structural elements like the original mortise and tenon joinery or dowel holes. This reinterpretation preserves the history of the timber while transforming it into minimalist, monumental forms.
